Asha graduated Magna Cum Lucky from the Canine College of Arts and Science on June 10, 2012 with a major in Animal Husbandry. As the school’s Valedictorian, she was asked to give a few words at her commencement ceremony.
Here are some excerpts from that remarkable speech:
“My fellow canine friends. This is a great day for all of us. We go out into the world armed with the knowledge that we can be anything we want to be in this life. We have the K9 advantage. We will not sit quietly and stay until told to do otherwise. The world is our bone. Chews wisely, my friends. Don’t bark up the wrong tree. Don’t beg for what you want. But go and fetch what you want in life and you will retrieve success. I came from a humble background. Unwanted at birth, I was abandoned to an old horse farm. My early childhood filled with other pups in the same condition as I. However, I was taught the value of a good education. This treasure I will keep always, not like some treasures buried in the yard. So on this happy day, let us leap for joy not for some cheap, plastic Frisbee thrown In our direction. Be your own dog!”
